I named this blog “Bangers and Mash” to reference the two main types of material I post. At the time, I intended to post mostly mash-ups, thus, “mash”. As for “bangers”, I guess you could say I’m alluding to all the times I’ve heard people say “Yo, this song is bangin’.”
“Bangers and Mash” is now heavy on the bangers, and lower on the mash, but I like it that way. I love mash-ups (the more absurd the better), but I also love covers, sampled music, and various music-related video, so there will be a lot of all of those as well. The music I listen to doesn’t really have any rhyme or reason, so there’s definitely no overarching theme to the songs and videos I pick. Bangers and Mash also isn’t a traditional music blog in the sense that I don’t post music solely for the sake of listening to it; every posted song/album also has a story behind it that I try to point out. I hope you like it, and please, please don’t hesitate to send me songs.
That being said, I in no way condone the illegal and/or irresponsible use of artists’ material; the music available for download is for sampling purposes only. If you truly like what you hear, you should show the artist some love and buy their stuff!
On another note, I should probably explain what “biffwooten” is. Biff refers to Biff Tannen, the villain from the Back to the Future movies. As I’m sure you all know, Biff is the 1955/1985 villain, Griff is the 2015 villain (Biff’s grandson), and Buford “Mad Dog” Tannen is the villain in 1885 (Biff’s great-grandfather).
Wooten refers to Victor Wooten, the ridiculous bass player for Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Biffwooten was my screen name for a very brief period when I was in middle-school, and at the time referred to my two favorite things in life (Back to the Future and Victor Wooten).
This blog is in no way tied to either of those things.
